A wee while ago I was in Leeds seeing Lightning Bolt, Chops, Action Beat & a.P.A.t.T. It was awesome. I had a really good time, thanks. Anyway, Don from Action Beat told me about the Glenn Branca guy who I'd never heard of. He said "he's what Sonic Youth n that are influenced by" (or something along those lines). So I checked him out on spotify and indeed it sounds like Sonic Youth before Sonic Youth.
Maybe that's not really news. However, Don (Action Beat), the DIY legend that he is, is exclusively releasing a new Glenn Branca 180 gram vinyl on his label Fortissimo Records. It's being pressed right now apparently and will be available very soon.
